Position: ACTIVITY LEADER – RDASC

Supporting Elementary School Age Youth

Richmond District Neighborhood Center is seeking an ACTIVITY LEADER.

The RDASC Activity Leader will be located at one of the Elementary School Sites in the Richmond District of San Francisco and will be responsible for providing assistance to children ages 5-11 with homework completion and facilitates enrichment and wellness activities for the program. Responsibilities include assisting program participants with daily homework tasks, implementing efforts to align school day and after school academic strategies, and communicating with staff and parents on the academic progress of students.  Develops and facilitates enrichment activities and Wellness activities relating to project-based learning and develops and submits a multi-week lesson plan for activity classes.

The successful candidate must meet SFUSD Instructional Aide Requirements:  An AA degree or higher or Official transcripts reflecting 48 college units and a high school diploma/equivalent or Completion of CBEST and a high school diploma/equivalent. Minimum one year experience working with elementary school children in an educational environment, excellent verbal skills, proven experience with activity development and facilitating hands-on educational curriculum. Proficiency in Chinese, Russian, Vietnamese, or Spanish, a plus. All candidates will be subject to a clearance of TB test and fingerprinting (criminal background check).

Hours & Compensation:  $15.00-16.50//hr. This is a part time seasonal (through May 2015) position. Benefits include medical coverage in accord with the San Francisco HSCO (Health Care Security Ordinance) and sick leave in accord with the San Francisco Paid Sick Leave Ordinance.

Position: Food & Ecology Enrichment Leader

Supporting Elementary School Age Youth

Richmond District Neighborhood Center is seeking a Food & Ecology Enrichment Leader who will be located at one of the Elementary School’s After School Programs in the Richmond District of San Francisco

RDASC focuses on after school learning environments that are safe, fun, creativity-based, academically enhancing and culturally relevant.  We engage children in the joy of discovering the world around them by 1) projecting our own love of learning, 2) using the resource-rich environment of the Richmond District and 3) looking for the spark of joy in each child.  We are looking for a Food & Ecology Enrichment Leader who is responsible for outdoor learning and enrichment, focusing on local environmental systems within the Richmond District of San Francisco using multi-sensory and interdisciplinary learning activities for children in Kindergarten through 5th grade.

The successful candidate will have: B.A. in environmental education, outdoor education, ecology, elementary education or related field and a minimum 2 years experience working with children in nature with the ability to blend indoor and outdoor learning experiences. The candidate should have experience leading children safely on nature hikes, outdoor experiences, neighborhood walks and field trips, sometimes using public transportation; an ability to blend science, literacy, music, drama, and art into a multi-disciplinary approach to teaching which helps connect students to the outside world; and the ability to create interdisciplinary activities in informal learning environments. Experience in youth development and behavior modification theories and techniques required. The ideal candidate is comfortable with an open-ended style of student facilitation, where the students and facilitator learn together; is flexible with regard to facilitation style and different learning opportunities, and is willing to take on a leadership role in mentoring other staff in program facilitation. All candidates will be subject to a clearance of TB test and fingerprinting (criminal background check).

Hours & Compensation:  $18.00-$22.00//hr. This is a part time (12 hrs/wk) seasonal (through May 2015) position. Benefits include medical coverage in accord with the San Francisco HSCO (Health Care Security Ordinance) and sick leave in accord with the San Francisco Paid Sick Leave Ordinance.

Richmond Village Beacon (a program of Richmond District Neighborhood Center) is seeking an Activity Leader.

The Activity Leader will be located at Presidio Middle Schools located in the Richmond District of San Francisco.  The Activity Leader will be responsible for providing direction to youth in the after school programs, including developing and leading activity classes, leading field trips and off-campus activities, participating in special events and providing general supervision of the youth.

The successful candidate must meet SFUSD Instructional Aide Requirements:  An AA degree or higher or official transcripts reflecting 48 college units and a high school diploma/equivalent or completion of CBEST and a high school diploma/equivalent. Experience must include experience working with youth, ideally in a middle school setting, proven experience developing and leading classes/activities for youth, strong youth supervision and problem-solving experience, diverse experience with various activities, flexible, and patient.

All candidates will be subject to a clearance of TB test and fingerprinting (criminal background check).

Position: DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

Richmond District Neighborhood Center (RDNC) is looking for an experienced fundraiser to solicit gifts from individuals, foundations and corporations and raising RDNC’s visibility in the community as part of a key strategic goal to expand RDNC’s network.

Our mission is to nurture a diverse urban community by developing and providing high quality youth, adult, and family programs that address critical community needs and foster respect for all people and our environment. For 35 years, we have fulfilled this mission through directly implementing programs in response to community needs.  Currently, we offer free weekend children’s art program for elementary school age youth; a broad array of free after school services to promote the healthy development of youth at Presidio and Roosevelt Middle Schools and George Washington and Wallenberg High Schools; a sliding scale fee-based after school program which serves youth at four elementary school sites; free adult evening classes and workshops; weekly food pantry and food delivery for homebound seniors.

The Development Manager works with the RDNC Leadership Team and board of directors to design and implement an annual fundraising and communications work plan. This key team member will be the lead in expanding RDNC’s fundraising capability to fund RDNC’s budget of $3 million, $2 million of which comes from school district and city contracts and $500,000 of which is raised through fees. The successful candidate will have a Bachelors degree and a minimum of three years fundraising and marketing experience with direct mail, fundraising  events, social media, WordPress web site management, grant writing, sponsorship solicitation, donor administration (thanks letters) and database management experience and a creative approach to cultivating new and current donors. A familiarity with the San Francisco funding landscape and a commitment to community services and RDNC’s mission is necessary.  Filemaker experience strongly desired.

Hours & Compensation:  This is an 80% position (32 hrs/week).  Days and hours are flexible.  Salary $45,000-$55,000 DOE, includes a comprehensive benefit package including medical, dental, vision, life, 403(b), vacation and sick leave.
