Position: RDASC Floater

Supporting Elementary School Age Youth

Richmond District Neighborhood Center is seeking a support person. The primary function of this job will be to provide support at one of the after school sites in the Richmond District of San Francisco.  Our after school programs include homework assistance, enrichment activities and wellness activities.  The Floater may be working in any of these disciplines with elementary school age youth (ages 5-11). The worksite may be any one of five locations.

The successful candidate must meet SFUSD Instructional Aide Requirements:  AA or equivalent, 48 college units, or pass CBEST test or high school equivalency.

Experience:

  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Minimum 1-2 years experience working with children in an academic environment preferred
    • College level experience in physical education and/or extensive experience in organized sports at the high school or college level
    • Understanding of behavioral and social needs of elementary school-aged youth
  • Strong, out-going personality and sense of humor
  • Demonstrated history of reliability, accountability, and responsibility
  • Desire to continue learning and growing as a youth worker
  • Proficiency in Chinese, Russian, Vietnamese or Spanish, preferred

The successful candidate must be flexible, a quick learner and able to fit in where ever they may be working. All candidates will be subject to a clearance of TB test and fingerprinting (criminal background check).

Hours & Compensation:  $15.00-$16.50/hr. This is a part time (20 hrs or more/week) seasonal (school year through May 2015) position. Benefits include vacation and holiday pay; medical coverage in accord with the San Francisco HSCO (Health Care Security Ordinance) and sick leave in accord with the San Francisco Paid Sick Leave Ordinance

Position: ACTIVITY LEADER – RDASC

Richmond District Neighborhood Center is seeking an ACTIVITY LEADER.

The RDASC Activity Leader will be located at one of the Elementary School Sites and will be responsible for providing assistance to children ages 5-11 with homework completion and facilitates enrichment and wellness activities for the program. Responsibilities include assisting program participants with daily homework tasks, implementing efforts to align school day and after school academic strategies, and communicating with staff and parents on the academic progress of students.  Develops and facilitates enrichment activities and Wellness activities relating to project-based learning and develops and submits a multi-week lesson plan for activity classes.

The successful candidate must meet SFUSD Instructional Aide Requirements:  An AA degree or higher or Official transcripts reflecting 48 college units and a high school diploma/equivalent or Completion of CBEST and a high school diploma/equivalent. Minimum one year experience working with elementary school children in an educational environment, excellent verbal skills, proven experience with activity development and facilitating hands-on educational curriculum. Proficiency in Chinese, Russian, Vietnamese, or Spanish, a plus. All candidates will be subject to a clearance of TB test and fingerprinting (criminal background check).

Position: ACTIVITY LEADER– TEEN CENTER

Supporting High School Age Youth

Richmond District Neighborhood Center is seeking an ACTIVITY LEADER.

The Activity Leader will be located at George Washington High School in the Beacon Center.  He/she will provide support to the Teen Center Drop-in Program. This person is a key part of the supervision and day to day operations of the Teen Center. Family events and workshops are also part of their on-going roles and responsibilities. Some of the essential duties and responsibilities include providing daily direction to the youth who participate in the Beacon Teen Center, providing supervision in the Teen Center space, providing supervision during outside athletic activities and field trips, and providing on-going case management to support youth academically and socially.

The successful candidate must meet SFUSD Instructional Aide Requirements:  An AA degree or higher or Official transcripts reflecting 48 college units and a high school diploma/equivalent or Completion of CBEST and a high school diploma/equivalent. Bachelors Degree preferred. The candidate will have proven experience working with youth (preferably high school age); proven experience developing and leading classes/activities for youth; strong youth supervision and problem solving experience. All candidates will be subject to a clearance of TB test and fingerprinting (criminal background check).

Hours & Compensation:  $15.00-$16.00/hour. This is a part time (in the 3:00pm to 6:00 pm timeframe, Mon-Fri), seasonal (to May 2015), non-exempt position. Benefits include health and sick leave in accord with the San Francisco HSCO (Health Care Security Ordinance) and San Francisco Paid Sick Leave Ordinance.
