Position: HOMEWORK LEADER

Supporting Elementary School Age Youth

RDASC (a program of Richmond District Neighborhood Center) is seeking HOMEWORK LEADERS for our after school programs.

The Homework Leader will be located at one of the elementary schools in the Richmond District of San Francisco and will be responsible for providing assistance to children ages 5-11 with homework completion and facilitating enrichment activities for the program.  Responsibilities include assisting program participants with daily homework tasks, implementing efforts to align school day and after school academic strategies, facilitating education programming including place-based and project-based learning, and communicating with parents on the academic progress of students.

The successful candidate must meet SFUSD Instructional Aide Requirements:  An AA degree or higher or Official transcripts reflecting 48 college units and a high school diploma/equivalent or Completion of CBEST and a high school diploma/equivalent. Minimum one year experience working with children in an educational environment, experience assisting elementary-aged youth with homework, excellent written and verbal skills, proven experience with facilitating hands-on, educational curriculum. Proficiency in Chinese, Russian, Vietnamese, or Spanish, a plus.  All candidates will be subject to a clearance of TB test and fingerprinting (criminal background check).

Hours & Compensation:  $14.50-$16.00/hr. This is a part time (18 hrs/wk) seasonal (August 2014 – May 2015) position. Benefits include medical coverage in accord with the San Francisco HSCO (Health Care Security Ordinance) and sick leave in accord with the San Francisco Paid Sick Leave Ordinance.

Position: RECREATION/WELLNESS LEADER

Supporting Elementary School Age Youth

RDASC (a program of Richmond District Neighborhood Center) is seeking a RECREATION/WELLNESS LEADER for our after school programs.

The Recreation/Wellness Leader will be located at an elementary school in the Richmond District of San Francisco and will be responsible for the development and implementation of recreation and wellness activities at the site.  The Recreation/Wellness Leader provides co-supervision of children ages 5-11 who are in the RDASC program.  Responsibilities include creating and implementing Wellness programming using a wide array of Recreation, Nutrition, social/emotional, mindfulness and Environmental Education curriculum and ensuring that the curriculum corresponds to SFUSD Wellness guidelines. Develops and implements enrichment activities relating to project-based learning and develops and submits a monthly calendar of games and activity plans.

The successful candidate must meet SFUSD Instructional Aide Requirements:  An AA degree or higher or Official transcripts reflecting 48 college units and a high school diploma/equivalent or Completion of CBEST and a high school diploma/equivalent. Minimum two years’ college level experience in Child Development/Education or related field (B.A preferred). Two years experience working with elementary school children in an educational environment, excellent verbal skills, proven experience with curriculum development and facilitation around Recreation, Nutrition, and environmental education, working knowledge of Microsoft Office. Richmond Village Beacon (a program of Richmond District Neighborhood Center) is seeking Activity Leaders.

The Activity Leader will be located at either Presidio or Roosevelt Middle Schools located in the Richmond District of San Francisco.  The Activity Leader will be responsible for providing direction to youth in the after school programs, including developing and leading activity classes, leading field trips and off-campus activities, participating in special events and providing general supervision of the youth.

The successful candidate must meet SFUSD Instructional Aide Requirements:  An AA degree or higher or official transcripts reflecting 48 college units and a high school diploma/equivalent or completion of CBEST and a high school diploma/equivalent. Position: ACTIVITY LEADER– TEEN CENTER

Supporting High School Age Youth

Richmond District Neighborhood Center is seeking an ACTIVITY LEADER.

The Activity Leader will be located at George Washington High School in the Beacon Center.  He/she will provide support to the Teen Center Drop-in Program. This person is a key part of the supervision and day to day operations of the Teen Center. Family events and workshops are also part of their on-going roles and responsibilities. Some of the essential duties and responsibilities include providing daily direction to the youth who participate in the Beacon Teen Center, providing supervision in the Teen Center space, providing supervision during outside athletic activities and field trips, and providing on-going case management to support youth academically and socially.

Position: STUDENT SUPPORT LEADER II– TEEN CENTER

Supporting High School Age Youth

The Student Support Leader will be located at George Washington High School in the Beacon Center. He/she will provide one-on-one support to identified student with special needs.  Must be able to create and organize engaging activities for student with limited communication skills, create and organize cognitively appropriate community outings and facilitate integration of identified students into the afterschool community.  Some of the essential duties and responsibilities include working one on one with a youth with special needs (autism, aggression), including tutoring and completing homework, playing games, and helping socialize with peers, within the afterschool program; developing and implementing an individual treatment plan with concrete goals, expectations and accommodations; utilizing behavior modification principles in the design, documentation, and implementation of positive and behavioral reduction programs; writing organized and in-depth notes and keeping data on treatment plan goals. Must also function as coordinator of communication between parents, faculty and after school staff to receive input on treatment plans and update necessary parties on student progress.

Provide any additional case management and referrals to identify additional support as necessary. When necessary, assists other students with homework, playing games, or socializing with peers.

The successful candidate will have a minimum one year of experience working with students with autism; minimum one year of experience using aggression reduction techniques; minimum one year of experience in a setting requiring the knowledge of techniques on how to safely restrain students who present a threat to themselves or others (e.g., Crisis Prevention Institute Training experience in a residential group home, etc.). The candidate should also have demonstrated patience and compassion and to be adaptable to changing situations.  All candidates will be subject to a clearance of TB test and fingerprinting (criminal background check).

Hours & Compensation: $16.00-$18.00/hour (when working with the identified student); $14.50-$16.00 (when assisting other students).  This is a part time (hours TBD but would be in the 3:00pm to 6:00 pm timeframe), seasonal (summer 2014) position. Must create and organize cognitively appropriate community outings and facilitate integration of identified students into the afterschool community.

The successful candidate must meet SFUSD Instructional Aide Requirements:  An AA degree or higher or Official transcripts reflecting 48 college units and a high school diploma/equivalent or Completion of CBEST and a high school diploma/equivalent. Bachelors Degree preferred. The candidate must have a minimum two years experience working with special needs population and one year working with high school aged youth, experience working with youth, ideally in a middle school or high school setting, ability to multi task and be flexible and adaptable. A knowledge of or background in, working with diverse communities and/or public schools, experience with reading I.E.P. work plans and proficiency in written and verbal communications with parents, counselors and special day teachers is required.. Bi-lingual and proven experience in social story learning, community based learning and/or arts skills preferred. All candidates will be subject to a clearance of TB test and fingerprinting (criminal background check).

Hours & Compensation:  $15.00-$16.00/hr. This is a part time (working hours are contingent on the hours of participation of the one-on-one client) seasonal (August 2014-May 2015) position.
