HOMEWORK LEADER/ACTIVITY LEADER
Supporting High School Age Youth
Richmond District Neighborhood Center is seeking a HOMEWORK LEADER/ACTIVITY LEADER for After School Programs.
The Homework Leader/Activity Leader will be located at Wallenberg High School in San Francisco. The Homework Leader portion will be responsible for direct homework assistance for youth (high school level curriculum), coordination and motivation of other tutors, creating and leading workshops to help prepare students for college and/or career paths, and tracking student’s academic progress. The Activity Leader portion will be responsible for developing and leading activities that engage teens at the After School Center. This includes creating and maintaining a schedule of on-going activities happening within the space, initiating teen leaders to run activities, equipment maintenance/security, behavior guidance and organization. The Activity Leader also handles communication of any room changes or cancellations related to activities, ensuring delivery of workshops to students, outreach and marketing. While it would be ideal for one person to hold both of these responsibilities, we are willing to be flexible to accommodate the skills and strengths of our candidates.
The successful candidate will have an AA degree or 48 college units, degree preferred, experience in Child Development/Education or related field., minimum 1 year experience working with high school age youth (in an academic/classroom environment preferred), minimum one year tutoring experience, excellent writing and verbal skills, demonstrated history of reliability, accountability, and responsibility, and desire to continue learning and growing as a youth worker. All candidates will be subject to a clearance of TB test and fingerprinting (criminal background check).
Hours & Compensation: $15.50-$17.00/hr. This is a part time (18 hrs/week – hours will be Mon – Fri 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm, except Wed which is 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm) seasonal (to May 2014, Mon-Fri), non-exempt position. We are willing to be flexible concerning candidates scheduling needs as long as these do not affect our program requirements. Benefits include health and sick leave in accord with the San Francisco HSCO (Health Care Security Ordinance) San Francisco Paid Sick Leave Ordinance.
