Beach Chalet Athletic Fields Environmental Report to be issued WHEN: Wednesday, May 9th WHERE: Planning Department website DETAILS: The Final Comments and Responses to the Environmental Impact Report for the Beach Chalet Athletic Fields will be issued on May 9th. The Beach Chalet Athletic Fields project will destroy the western end of Golden Gate Park by replacing a grassy practice field with over 7 acres of artificial turf and 150,000 watts of stadium lighting. The lights will be lighted until 10:00 p.m. every night of the year. SF Ocean Edge is proposing renovating the field with real grass and NO night lights. Ansai Waist Drumming Class When: Registration is April 15, 2012- Classes are Held Sundays from 4-5PM Where: St. Anne's Church gym, Funston and Judah Ave. Details: The Ansai waist drum dance is a unique, large-scale folk dance with a history of more than 2,000 years. The drum dance is a traditional lunar New Year and Lantern Festival activity in Shaanxi Province. Young people perform the dance throughout their villages while wishing people a happy New Year.The Ansai waist drum dance is an impressive spectacle that consists of vigorous dances and leaps accompanied by frenetic drumming. The dancers wear costumes and headdresses similar to those of ancient Chinese soldiers.
A demo/free class will be offered on April 15, 2012 from 4-5 p.m.; you may also register on that date or fill out the form below to reserve your spot.
